Sticky Wild
What is Sticky Wild?
A sticky Wild is a Wild symbol that remains locked on its reel position for a set number of subsequent spins after landing. While it stays in place, the other reels continue to spin normally. This mechanic raises the probability of completing winning combinations across several consecutive rounds and appears most often during free-spin bonus features.
How it works
When a sticky Wild lands, it freezes on that grid position for the duration specified in the game rules, typically two to five spins. The remaining reels spin as normal on each subsequent round. Multiple sticky Wilds can accumulate on the grid simultaneously, steadily increasing win potential.
Use in free-spin rounds
Sticky Wilds are most common inside free-spin bonus rounds. Each Wild that lands stays for the rest of the feature, so later free spins often benefit from a partially covered grid. This progressive buildup is a core part of many games’ bonus design.
Variants
Some games pair the sticky Wild with a growing multiplier that increases by one step each spin the Wild remains active. Others randomize the number of spins a Wild will stay before disappearing.
